Leif Andersson receives Distinguished Professor Grant, 47.6 million between 2018 - 2027.


The Swedish Research Council has reached decisions regarding the call Distinguished Professor Grant. 112 applications were received and out of these ten have been approved.

The aim of the Distinguished Professors Grant programme is to create conditions for the most distinguished researchers to conduct long-term, innovative research with great potential to achieve scientific breakthroughs. The grant will also promote the establishment and development of a research environment of highest quality.

Almost half a billion SEK will be allocated between the grants in 2018 - 2027.

In total, the Swedish Research Council shares close to SEK 490 million in this year's announcement. Ten of the 112 applicants receive a grant.

One of the contributions of SEK 47.6 million goes to Leif Andersson, professor at the Department of Medical Biochemistry and Microbiology, Uppsala University for the project "The Genetic Background of Biodiversity".
